CEREC
CEREC is an acronym that stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC is a dental restoration product that allows our office to create an indirect ceramic dental restoration using computers with 3D photography and CAD (Computer Aided Design) / CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing). The restoration of a tooth or teeth can be performed in a single office visit.
First the cavity is photographed in 3D and computer software is used to calculate the restoration shape. When the model in the computer is completed, the milling machine will carve the actual restoration out of a small ceramic block. Once the restoration is completed, it is bonded to the problematic tooth using a resign.
